Creating voting slides can be done by using the wizard to build a slide or insert a template or by converting an existing PowerPoint slide to include voting capability.
The easiest and quickest method to create a new voting slide is to use the templates that are included with the software. Once you have created a voting slide from a template you can adapt it to your needs by updating the question and answer text, adding additional voting answers and altering the graph/results display.
The following are examples of some of the basic voting template slides available.
Standard Votes – Column and Bar charts |
The vertical Column chart is the easiest to use, you can easily add and remove voting options on the slide. The graph will automatically update when the vote is run live to show the correct number of columns on the graph. The question and answers are contained in standard PowerPoint text boxes and can be edited directly on the PowerPoint slide, just like you would with any other PowerPoint text on a slide. |
The horizontal Bar chart allows you to align the graph with the answer text. The question and answer text is edited directly in PowerPoint. |

Object Votes |
All elements of these slides use standard PowerPoint functionality and can be amended directly in PowerPoint to alter the text, font, colour, size and position of all objects on the slide. |
You must not delete the ^R01^, ^R02^, etc. placeholders from the slide. These are the placeholders where the live results will be shown. If these are deleted from the slide the vote will fail to display the live results. |

Agreement Scales |
The style of these templates creates a slide with a colour coded graph from red to green. The voting scale shown in the table can be edited to create your own descriptions. |

Inserting Voting Slides |
Go to Add-ins > CLiKAPAD > New Slide Wizard. |
Select Voting Slide > Go. |
The ppvote Wizard will load at the Templates tab. |
Select the template you wish to use from the list shown in the Template tab. When you click on any of the templates in the list a new voting slide is instantly created in your presentation. This example uses the Column Chart template, when selecting this template from the list a 4-option vote with a column chart is created in your PowerPoint slide show. |
The highlighted areas are standard PowerPoint text boxes and may be edited directly within the slide to display your desired question and answers. To add more voting options simply type an extra item in the answers box, the Sample graph will not immediately update to reflect the changes made. When you run the vote live or edit the voting slide from the main Slide Editor the graph will automatically update to reflect the correct number of answer options. |
If no further adjustments are needed, the voting slide is ready to be used. Any adjustments to the graph itself (such as bar colours, font, size, position etc.) are held within the ppvote software and so will need to be made via the Slide Editor tool. See the section on Editing Voting Slides. |
Voting slides that you have created can be used as templates themselves to create additional voting slides, simply copy/paste or duplicate an entire voting slide then update the question and answers on the newly created PowerPoint slide. This is by far the quickest way to create a set of voting questions, especially so if you have a common voting scale for all your questions, e.g. Strongly Disagree -> Strongly Agree. |
