If you test all of your devices before starting your meeting, it's very unlikely that you'll have an issue that day. However, it is possible, so here is some guidance.
These instructions relate to do during a live voting session. For help with diagnosing the issue with a broken keypad click here or paste the following URL to your browser https://knowledge.clikapad.com/a-keypad-is-broken-what-can-i-do
We generally recommend setting up the system to receive votes from more keypads than you need. That way if an extra person joins late, you can simply hand them a device.
If your voters are anonymous and a device stops working during the meeting, you can simply swap for another one.
However, if you are running a voting session where votes are tracked by individual, it's best to try to get the same device functioning, so that the voter retains the same device for the whole duration.
-
Ask the participant to vote again and suggest they press nice and hard
-
Vote on the keypad yourself so you can check the display is showing a valid number
-
Vote again ensuring you are holding the keypad not using it flat on the table. Voting through furniture takes more power.
-
Take the keypad closer to the receiver and try voting again. If that works, it might be that the batteries are a bit weak. As the participant to sit in the position closest to the receiver for the remainder of the session.
- If you have set up the system to allow votes from some spare keypads and none of the above has solved the issue, simply give the voter the new device and when you export the results at the end of the session, you will need to manually combine the two rows.
-
If you have not set up to allow any spares, while the vote is still open, escape to close the vote without logging any results and then escape out of PowerPoint so that you can see the Add-ins menu. Go to set up and add another keypad. Ask your voter to use that one for the rest of the course.
