How do I create a sequence vote?

A Sequence vote must use a style of vote that shows a graph. It cannot be an object or ratings vote.

If you have an existing multiple-choice graph format voting slide, you can easily transform this into a Sequence vote slide. To achieve this, it is recommended to use standard PowerPoint functionality to either duplicate or copy the multiple choice slide you wish to amend.

  • Ensure the slide you wish to amend is selected.
  • Edit the question and possible answers directly within PowerPoint itself.
  • The Graph panel is held within the ppvote software, so to edit this you must use the Slide Editor function.
  • Select CLiKAPAD > Slide Editor.
  • You will be presented with the Answers tab.

Note that the answers displayed here are non-editable.

The Number of Responses is currently displaying as 1. To transform this into a Sequence Vote, enter the number of choices you would like to give your audience. Number of responses value greater than 1 will enable the Multi Response tab.

Enter the number of responses you’d like, a maximum of 5 rounds of voting is recommended, then click on the Multi Response tab.

▪ Exclusive Selections – Use this if you want to prevent your audience from choosing the same option more than once.

▪ Use Weightings – This allows you to weight each round of voting so that items selected in earlier rounds (or iterations) get more points than those selected in later rounds. The default weighting is 3, 2, 1, but these may be amended to any values of your choice. With weightings enabled the vote becomes a prioritization vote where you can ask the audience to select the most important item first, followed by their second most important, etc.

Select Next to progress to the Voting tab to choose your Voting Indicator settings. The remaining steps are the same as designing/customising a standard voting slide.

As you are going to ask your audience to respond a number of times you will see the following prompts depending on the number of rounds of votes. If you are asking the audience for their 1st and 2nd choice the vote counter / timer will be displayed twice.

Once votes have been collected for the first round, click to close the vote and the counter will reset to allow votes to be collected for the second round. This process repeats until all rounds are completed.

We have used the Manually Start Timer option under the Voting tab to pause the timer.

Simply tap the space bar to start the timer.

Press CTRL + T to see the result split by each round of selections. Press CTRL + T twice to return to a combined graph.
